Cape Verde is an archipelago of ten islands situated 385 miles off the west coast of Africa in the macronesia region of the North Atlantic. The islands are relatively close to the Canary Island, easily accessible from Europe. Just 5.5 hours away from the UK at one hour behind GMT, Cape Verde is a tropical paradise without the jet-leg. The islands have a rich cultural history that reflects its mixed African and Portuguese roots. A strong heritage of music, dance and literature is evident in everyday life on the islands. The official language of Cape Verde is Portuguese, although a number of Creole languages are widely used around the islands. Currency on the islands is the Cape Verdean Escudo, which has been linked to the Euro since 1999. Proposed membership of the EU offers further evidence of Cape Verde’s strong European connections and aims.
Sal Island
Dunas Beach Resort is based on Sal Island, the most visited and accessible location on Cape Verde. Sal Island has the best facilities and infrastructure of the Cape Verde isles - with an international airport - and as such is the most suited to tourism. The Cape Verde Government is investing significantly in creating a modern and contemporary tourist destination, making now the right time to invest on Sal.
Dunas Beach Resort is perfectly positioned on the beautiful Ponta Preta beach, one of the best examples of the pristine white sand beaches that Sal is famous for. The resort is also close to the popular town of Santa Maria, with its abundance of bars, restaurants and shops. A planned adjacent golfing complex will complete Dunas Beach Resort’s superb range of tourist resources. |
